Central vacuum systems are "Green"
by their very nature. The cleaner air and health benefits of a
using a central vacuum have been well documented, but those are
just two of the reasons why a central vacuum will "Green" up
your home. Many companies will try and tell you why one central
vacuum unit is more "Greener" then another, but the truth is
they all are "Green" in their own way. The lesser impact on
landfills, the saving of energy and the improved indoor air are
all common benefits that come along with any central vacuum unit
regardless of make or model. The only legit difference is if you
choose a bagless style system where there would be no bags to
throw away. This of course would lessen the impact on forests
and landfills alike. So it is our goal to educate our customers
on some of the many reasons why a central vacuum will help you
go "Green", not to stir you in the direction of a particular
unit.
Less Impact on Landfills
and Forests
Being that central vacuum systems outlast traditional house hold
vacuums by about 15 years the impact on landfills is much less.
Think about it. Let's say you use and throw away 3-5 vacuums or
more in that 15 year span, that more than triples the impact on
landfills. This is only part of the story. Most central vacuum
units are also 90% - 99% recyclable. Central vacuum units are
very simply as far as design and parts. A central vacuum
typically consists on 3-4 components...the canister, relay board
and motor, making them easy to break down and recycle. Another
area that will have an impact is on the lack of replacement
bags. If you decide to choose a central vacuum unit that does
not use bags, you will never have a bag to throw away. This
lessens the impact on landfills and helps saves more trees in
the process.
Clean Faster and Save Energy
With a central vacuum system cleaning is cut in half, and when
you save time you save energy as well. With 30 - 50 ft. hoses
and specific attachments for every cleaning need, central
vacuum systems make cleaning a pleasure. With these sort of tools,
cleaning can be done faster shortening the time spent wasting
energy on the vacuum. Central vacuums are also much stronger
than traditional vacuums which means the cleaning is done the
first time with no need to go over areas a second time.

Improved Indoor Air Quality
According
to different associations and specialists concerned with indoor air
quality and respiratory diseases, using a central vacuum system
substantially improves indoor air quality. Since central vacuum
units are
installed away from the living area, there is no discharge of
forced air in the space being cleaned. That means no dust
and allergens stirred up and no dust particles suspended in the
air where they can be inhaled. One out of every three people
in America have some sort of dust related allergies and the EPA estimates
that indoor air could be five times more polluted than
outdoor air. Even though canister and upright vacuums advertise
a "HEPA filtration", it only filters down to .3
micron at 99.97% efficiency. Smaller lung damaging particles,
viruses and bacteria are still passed through, right back into the room being
vacuumed.
Unlike traditional
vacuums that can recirculate dust, a central vacuum removes 100%
of contacted dirt, dust mites, dust mite eggs, pollen, pet dander and other
allergens and carries them away from living areas—to help
improve indoor air quality. Research has proven that a central
vacuum provides a measurable relief for allergy sufferers. A
central vacuum system makes for a cleaner home and healthier
living, even if you don't suffer from allergies.According to the
American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, as many as
10 million of the 100 million Americans who own pets are
allergic to their pet. However, almost 80 percent of pet owners
keep their pets inside the home, triggering sneezing, itching,
watery eyes, runny nose and a variety of other allergic
reactions.
The same deep cleaning and
allergen-reducing capability that makes central vacuums systems
so appealing to veterinarians also makes them ideal for pet
owner's. In fact, numerous allergy physicians and environmental
organizations such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) say the use of central vacuum systems may help some
patients live comfortably with pets in the home. Because they
exhaust no air into the room that can stir up pet dander and
other allergens and completely remove contacted allergens from
the living area, central vacuum systems significantly reduce
exposure to animal dander, dust mites and other allergens. |
